MOTS-C
£110.00
Research-grade peptide for laboratory use only. Sold strictly for research and not for human or animal consumption.
Description
MOTS-c is a synthetic version of a 16-amino-acid mitochondrial-derived peptide encoded within the 12S ribosomal RNA region of the mitochondrial genome. Its discovery established MOTS-c as one of a small group of mitochondrially encoded signalling peptides, distinguishing it from the nuclear-encoded peptide hormones that dominate the field.
In biochemical and cellular work, MOTS-c has been examined for its effects on AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) activation, glucose handling in cultured myocytes and hepatocytes, and the regulation of metabolic homeostasis at the cellular level. Research interest spans mitochondrial-nuclear communication, retrograde signalling, and the interaction between mitochondrial-encoded peptides and the broader metabolic environment.
Applications in research include in-vitro studies of AMPK pathway activation, glucose uptake assays in cell models, comparative work against other mitochondrial-derived peptides such as humanin, and investigations into the regulatory role of mitochondrial-encoded peptides in cellular stress responses.
Supplied as a lyophilised peptide for research use only. Not for human or veterinary use, diagnosis, or treatment. Purchasers must be 18 or older.
