IPAMORELIN

Description

Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide growth hormone secretagogue developed through systematic modification of growth hormone–releasing peptide scaffolds. The molecule was engineered for selective binding to the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R1a), with minimal cross-reactivity at related receptor families, making it a useful tool for probing ghrelin-pathway biology in isolation from prolactin or cortisol axis effects.

In biochemical and ex-vivo research, ipamorelin has been examined for its activity at GHS-R1a, downstream phospholipase C and calcium signalling, and the regulated release of growth hormone from cultured pituitary somatotrophs. Its receptor selectivity profile makes it a frequent reference compound in comparative pharmacology studies of ghrelin-receptor agonists.

Research applications include receptor binding-affinity assays, ex-vivo pituitary slice or cell-culture work measuring growth hormone release kinetics, combination protocols with GHRH analogues such as CJC-1295, and selectivity-profiling studies against alternative ghrelin-receptor ligands.
